New Web 2.0 Service Automatically Converts Blogs To Podcasts — Endorsed By Yahoo! Tech's Techie Diva
Yahoo! Tech's Techie Diva: “The easiest way for bloggers to become podcasters
without lifting a finger”
Odiogo™ enables bloggers to become instant podcasters without saying a word, converting
their text content into MP3 files ready to play on any audio device.
January 24, 2007 — Odiogo™ announces the launch
of a groundbreaking Web 2.0 application that enables text content providers to create new audio media
in a snap. Blog entries are converted on the fly into high fidelity voice files ready to play on MP3
players, PDAs, phones, or laptop computers.
Odiogo – a play on “Audio To Go” – extracts blog posts or articles from member
news sites and converts them to lightweight MP3 files in seconds. The files can be loaded to any mobile
device, giving users anytime-anywhere access to their favorite web content.
“Odiogo allows end-users to enjoy blogs and news on the go, at the gym, in the car, or on the
subway. They gain quick, easy access to content they previously could only get by reading a computer
screen” said CEO Marc Kawam. “On the other hand, Odiogo gives news sites and bloggers finally
an economical way to automatically podcast their textual content and reach more mobile users.”
“Think of Odiogo as a DVR for blogs” said Yahoo! Tech's Techie Diva, one of the top
technology blogs online today. “It saves your favorite content which you can rewind, play, and
even fast-forward through right from your iPod™ or computer. The audio quality of these voice
files is simply superb.”
How It Works: Odiogo™ Generates Podcasts of Text Content
Many news and blogs sites available on the Web today leverage the standard distribution format, RSS.
Odiogo monitors its content partners' feeds and automatically creates for each news item small
audio files using cutting-edge text-to-speech technology. Unlike many of its predecessors, this new breed
of artificial intelligence technology observes punctuation and more natural speech patterns to provide
a high fidelity listening experience, which the company is continually fine-tuning.
Odiogo-enabling a content site requires minimal effort and bandwidth. The service is run from Odiogo's
data center, where the MP3 files are stored, and later downloaded to iPods™ and other mobile devices,
free of charge.
Consumers subscribe to the audio enriched news feed by just clicking a button displayed on the Content
Provider's site. Updated news items and blog entries are automatically loaded each time the user's
iPod™/MP3 player is synchronized.
Free Service for Bloggers
Bloggers can join the service for free at www.odiogo.com. The
integration is done in a snap as all blog platforms support the RSS standard.
